What do Greenstreet Gardens and Dick Clark have in common? When Ray and Stacy Greenstreet want to expand our lines of products in our Gift Shop, they look for high quality, unique pieces; American-made preferred; artists who are passionate about their creations and committed to giving back to their communities. Ones that will delight consumers, be affordable, and compliment our established shop items. When Dick Clark established his criteria for selecting items to go into the American Music Awards Swag Bags, he looked for a company that was charity driven and whose products were made in the United States and were one-of-a-kind. Welcome to She Beads®! We are so excited about offering this hand-rolled clay bead line of jewelry to our customers. At this time, we are one of three selected Gift Shops in Maryland to carry She Beads and we are very proud to be a destination shop for these truly unique, exquisite jewelry beads.

To love She Beads is to know Sandy (that's her photo to the left). While raising a family and working as an X-ray Technician for the Chicago Bulls, Sandy worked part-time stringing beads. Michael Jordan asked her to string him a bracelet. At that time, Sandy was not making the beads herself but his request was motivation to create her own custom jewelry. Sandy became an expert in the art of cane working and soon started her own company. She surrounds herself with fellow artists who make the beads, cut them, and string them. No two rolls are identical, although the patterns may be the same. She credits her design inspiration to her love of perennial gardening as her beads reflect garden designs and seasonal color changes.

The art of creating the beads is very interesting and impressive. Cane working is a technique originally used by glassmakers to create stained glass designs. She Beads artisans have adapted this technique to create canes from clay in different colors. Canes are created from a series of rods, wedges or sheets of clay in different colors. You will find geometric patterns, faces, animals, and seasonal motifs on the beads. Canes are rolled and pressed and then ready for beadmaking. Beads are pierced with a skewer and baked in low heat to ensure that the beads become durable and strong. Beads are forever evolving with new designs, patterns and mofifs. She Beads are truly unique pieces of wearable art.

Sandy’s passion for creating one-of-a-kind, fashionable jewelry extends to her commitment to charity. When you purchase one of her charity bead collections, 10% of the sale goes to the specific charity. Sandy’s company is in Illinois, where her production facility, staff and shipping operations are located. But you often find Sandy traveling around the country, promoting her art pieces and her awareness for worthy causes.
